Late to the Party

Late to the Party was launched in May 2009 as a replacement to Fantasy World XD, a project that was simply to large for me to handle during the second semester of my second year at University. LTTP is a blog designed to allow multiple contributors to write about and discuss video games, both old and new.

The site is runs on a modified version of the php code that was built for the West Hill Kyokushinkai Karate website, allowing users to register, login, upload profile pictures, post comments, replies and shouts and vote in polls. The site also utilizes social networking sites such as Flickr and Twitter to enrich the viewing experience.

Authoring for Multimedia Applications Project 2

My second project in my Authoring for Multimedia Applications class was designed to be an interactive multimedia presentation to run on a kiosk that promoted the University and delivered a narrative to the user. I worked with two peers on this project, in which we decided to educate the user on how the UCH was built and inspired by the ideas of historical figures in Hastings past. The application incorporates photos, text, audio and interviews to make it a rich and interesting experience.

I personally produced the UCH section of this application, along with the home screen and screensaver. I worked with two peers who helped come up with the initial idea, produced the other two sections, and recorded the audio and interviews which I then edited.

Authoring for Multimedia Applications Project 1

My first project in my Authoring for Multimedia Applications class was a Curriculum Vitae (CV) produced in Macromedia Flash 8. The aim of this project was to sell myself to potential employers or clients, demonstrating my skills while providing them with a rich amount of information in a variety of media, such as text, images, video and sound.

The inspiration for my applications design centers on user interaction with a computer system, browsing the Internet and using websites. The idea is to provide a dynamic and moving experience to the user as you navigate around a “virtual computer”, specifically inspired by a Windows 98 laptop.

I received an A- for this project. You can download it here (right click, save as).

News Feed West Hill Kyokushinkai Karate update.

West Hill Kyokushinkai Karate

The West Hill Kyokushinkai Karate Club website was recently given a complete overhaul. Although visually it has kept the same look and style of the previous iteration, the behind the scenes coding has been completely re-written. The site now runs on php and a seven table mySQL database to support user registration, login, profile pictures and comment posting.

The site's navigation has also been completely replaced. A new, cleaner set of taps at the top of the site now take the place of the original "wall of text" down the right hand side. The sites update has been very popular among the small user-base it has obtained and owner was very pleased with the changes made.
